Shingle Roof Repair Venice Florida

When Thomas contacted Hall Bros Roofing & Construction, he was frustrated after dealing with a persistent roof leak where his lanai tied into the main roof of his home. He had already hired multiple roofing contractors to solve the problem, but each repair focused on applying roof coatings, tar, or silicone to the lanai roof. Unfortunately, none of those repairs addressed the true source of the leak.

Within minutes of our roof inspection, we identified the actual problem.

During the original roof installation, the previous installer failed to properly notch and taper the drip edge where the main roof transitioned into the lanai roof. Instead, the drip edge created a raised section that cupped the bottom course of shingles. During heavy rain, water was able to travel sideways across the shingle joints instead of draining properly, allowing it to work its way beneath the roofing system and into the home.

To permanently correct the issue, our team removed the bottom three courses of shingles in the affected area. We then custom-fabricated and installed a new tapered flashing, reducing from approximately 3 inches to 1½ inches to match the roof's pitch and create a proper drainage plane. Once the new flashing was installed, we replaced the roofing system with new matching shingles and restored the area to its original appearance.
